AKA His Royal Highness

He is the master grower and driving force behind Northeast Kingdom Hemp, Vermont Kind and Kingdom Kind.  As the video depicts, he has been growing and consuming marijuana since he was a teenager.  I think it probably started as a way of self-medicating his attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (which I quickly diagnosed back in college while working on my Masters in Education!)

Everyone who knows Cam knows that he is a hard worker who knows how to get things done.  He never does anything at less than 110%.  Having grown up on a farm (well “grown up” may not be the right words, maybe having “been raised” is more accurate) he learned to love the land, animals and growing things.  Being able to grow his beloved weed, on the very same land that he once worked on his family’s dairy farm, is pretty much a dream that he never thought would become a reality.

Farm Matriarch

The one who tries to keep Farmer Cam focused!  I have been teaching children to read for the past 30 years and always expected that I would be remembered for the impact that I had on kids and the education system.  NEVER in a million years would I have expected that I would be involved in the cannabis industry.  Starting with hemp, I fell in love with the part of the business that allowed me to educate people about the benefits of CBD, and the part where people expressed how much our products had improved their lives!  Although CBD will always be my first love, I am continuing to find joy in the comments we get from consumers who love our THC products for both the medicinal and recreational benefits they experience.  I now think that I might go down in history as the person who first introduced the idea of “better than edibles”.

Camden

The Big Brother

Being the eldest child, Camden is lucky enough to have been entrusted with all of the responsibilities around the lab.  Starting with hemp, he had the opportunity to train with some of the nation’s experts in extraction and formulation.  Since the age of nineteen, he has successfully taken on the role of at least three humans, managing everything from product manufacturing, to packaging, registration, and sales.  When we say we have a small, but mighty team, this is what we are talking about!   When not working on something hemp or cannabis related, Camden can be found on the lakes or mountains of the Northeast Kingdom fishing, skiing or playing softball, preferably with his brother.

Joel

The Little Brother

Although Joel has been employed on the family farm since its inception, he did take a brief hiatus when Vermont Kind and Kingdom Kind were first established.  Since he is the little brother, and was not twenty-one at the time, he took the opportunity to spend a winter in Golden, Colorado.  Since he has been back, Joel has been fully involved in the cultivation side of Vermont Kind.  Literally following in the footsteps of Farmer Cam, Joel is learning everything about both indoor and outdoor growing.  And let’s not forget preparing flower for sale and extraction AKA trimming and grinding!  Besides taking on pre-roll manufacturing Joel can also be found helping his brother in the lab with any other production process where help is needed. When not at the farm Joel enjoys spending his time with Autum, his brother,  and Dozer.

Brett

The Boy Wonder

Although my two sons know that I love them more than anything, they also have heard me say (numerous times) that I may just trade them both in for one Brett!  Brett has been with us for almost two years and everyone knows that I could not do it without him.  Brett has been keeping things organized and running smoothly in the office of NEK Hemp so that I can continue teaching.  He is just like family, so it stands to reason that he has gotten wrapped right up in Vermont Kind and Kingdom Kind as well!  We can ALWAYS count on Brett to go with the flow and do whatever is needed.  He has gone from being the office manager / accountant for our little hemp company to trying to balance three new, separate business entities with Vermont Kind Cultivation, Vermont Kind Manufacturing and Kingdom Kind Cannabis Company.  He is my eyes and ears, keeping the rest of the crew in line, during the hours that I am at school, and when I am in the office or at the store, he somehow manages to keep me from losing it!  We support each other so that we can both maintain the positive energy and attitude that it takes to survive when there is always too much to do, and too little time!  No matter where we go or what we are working on, everyone always remarks about how lucky we are to have Brett, to which I always respond by acknowledging that truth and quickly inform them that “THEY CAN’T HAVE HIM”.

John

John-Of-All-Trades

Since the opening of Kingdom Kind John has been the friendly face who greets our customers at the door!  He can also be found behind the front counter assisting customers when Manager Mike is off, and in the back room preparing product as needed.  He’s the guy in the plow truck and outside in the parking lot making sure everything looks good and is safe for our patrons.  He has the good sense to ask Karen before he hangs anything on the walls or moves any furniture, and he’s the one we go to anytime we need something hung up, taken down, or fixed!  Whether it’s fieldwork, woodwork, electrical challenges, plumbing issues, hash-making, or joint rolling, John is the man for the job.

Michael

Manager Mike

Thirty years ago, when I first started teaching, I remember someone saying that
we were preparing students for careers that did not even exist yet. At that time, Michael was a

student in the third grade of the school where I taught. He went on to be a University of
Vermont Green and Gold Scholar, to earn his masters degree at Binghamton University and to
manage several CVS Pharmacies in the Northeast. Who would have ever imagined he would
come back to Barton to manage one of Vermont’s first adult-use cannabis dispensaries? Having
lost his desire to work for corporate drug companies, Michael was the perfect candidate for this
position. It didn’t hurt that his mom and I had taught together for many years, he had grown
up less than a mile from our farm and he was willing to spend a year working for Northeast
Kingdom Hemp while we waited for legal cannabis sales in Vermont to begin. During that year
Michael experienced every aspect of our seed to shelf process. He knows our products and he
